The Governing Body consists of 13 Governors:

4 parents governors (elected by parents)
3 Local Authority representatives
1 teacher governor (elected by the teaching staff)
1 staff governor (elected by the non-teaching staff)
3 governors co-opted by rest of the governing body
The Head Teacher.

Each term of office runs for four years. The Local Education Authority appointed governors represent the balance of political groups within the council. However, should these places not be taken by the political groups the governing body is then free to nominate it's own candidates for the Local Education Authority to sanction.
Co-opted governors represent the community in business and local interest.
The teacher governor and the staff governor represent the views of the teaching staff and non-teaching staff respectively. At present we do have a vacancy for a LA Governor.

A brief guide to what Governors do:

The Governing Body has three main roles:
1 To provide a strategic view - helping to decide the School’s strategy for improvements;
2 To act as a critical friend - supporting the staff but asking challenging questions and pressing for improvement;
3 To ensure accountability - monitoring and evaluating the School’s effectiveness.
