May 2010

Welcome back to the final term of this  academic year.

Refurbished Office

There have been lots of positive comments about the location and presentation of the new office. Office staff are finding it is improving the service they offer. It has  also reduced congestion into the main hall in the morning. I hope you all find it an improvement.

Please could we encourage you to leave dinner money including ‘Fantastic Friday’ money  in an envelope or named purse in your child’s classroom.

Final Easter Thanks

Thank you to the Pearson Family Firm who assisted Easter Bunny in delivered eggs to all the children during our Easter assembly with Reverend Jo.

Cuckoo Day

Thank you to the National Trust  and their volunteers who came and worked  with each class in school to create a wheel barrow on an endangered species theme. The school entered five wheelbarrows in the cuckoo day procession. It was wonderful to see so many children ( and parents!!) helping push the barrows around the village. Well Done to Class C whose “Great Crested Newts won the first prize of a £20 book token.

Health and Safety Request

The school council are going to be setting homework for all the children to design a poster reminding dog owners to be responsible and clear up after their dog. Reports from the children and parents indicate that this is not just a school issue but a community issue. It is very disappointing that our caretaker is now  having to regularly  clear dog faeces from the playground before the children can use the area. It is Kirklees policy that no dogs are to be on school premises.

We are pleased to inform you that we have a complete Governing Body and an upto date list of Governors is now in the  external noticeboards. Governing Bodies are responsible for the overall leadership and  management of the school and for ensuring that all those connected with it are working together to raise standards. Governors are there to respond to your questions and comments whether negative or positive. Contact can be made with any Governor through the school.

Attendance

There were 4 full time children received Silver certificates for  achieving   full attendance  for the 2 last terms, and 9 children achieved Bronze Certificates for full attendance for a term.    Well done to those families.

Good attendance  is  vital to children making good progress  in school. However, this does also require the child to be fit and well enough to attend.

Friday 21st May- Cinema Night

INFO are planning on trialing a new fund raising event, a cinema night. Children will be able to come to school and watch a film with their friends. A charge will be made for popcorn and a drink. Further details  including the film title to follow.
